Chapter 3 and 4

1. Why did Parvana's mother go to the prison despite the fact that the Taliban were unlikely to release her husband? What would you do in her situation?

Parvana's mother went to the prison because she thought that that there was still a little chance that the Taliban was going to release her husband. She had no other choice so she took her only option even if it meant risking her and Parvana's life. If I were Parvana's mother i would have tried to stay calm and think of an another way to make a living but my last resolution would be going to the prison and asking for Parvana's father, because I could have gotten in prison for leaving my house without a man and my family would have nothing to eat. They would have to do everything by themselves.

2. Why did Parvana's mother stop taking care of the family? How might this have made Parvana feel? Use evidence from the text to support your answers.

Parvana's mother stopped taking care of the family because she was depressed. She felt she could not do anything to help her husband because she had to stay home. She also must have felt angry at the Taliban for not letting her husband go, so maybe she wanted to get revenge.
